Sustainable Commitment: Schreiner Group In the Top Two Percent Worldwide

For a medium-sized family-owned company, it is a huge success to be in the top two percent worldwide. Schreiner Group based in the district of Munich has achieved this feat in terms of sustainable action. EcoVadis, the leading international provider of sustainability assessments, has rated the hidden champion better than 98 percent of all businesses in the printing industry and awarded the company with a Gold Rating. To become even more sustainable, Schreiner Group has now co-founded “Unternehmensnetzwerk Klimaschutz,” a network of companies for climate protection.

A growing number of businesses would like to obtain information about the sustainability performance of their suppliers, not least because the actions of their supply partners are fed into their own assessments. Of the numerous service providers now specializing in neutral sustainability assessments EcoVadis is the largest and most trusted one. Around 40 of Schreiner Group’s customers draw on its assessments. This year, the family-owned company was awarded an EcoVadis Gold Rating once again. “I’m delighted about this outstanding rating,” says CEO Roland Schreiner, “because it shows that we truly assume responsibility for humans and nature.”

Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement: EcoVadis assesses the sustainability performance of businesses in all of these categories—and Schreiner Group has received above-average scores in all of them. In terms of its CO2 management, the high-tech company has even been rated as a leader with the best greenhouse gas management system in its class. For EcoVadis, Schreiner Group’s pursuit of net-zero emissions is a science-based target.

Schreiner Group, though, is not going to rest on its laurels. Just recently, the company set itself the strategic sustainability goal of becoming completely climate-neutral by 2030. This ambitious plan is underpinned by a clear roadmap and exchanges of experience with other companies are an important element of that effort as well. In addition to its previous involvement in numerous networks, Schreiner Group has now co-founded a new one: “Unternehmensnetzwerk Klimaschutz” is a Chamber of Industry and Commerce platform supporting its members in company-level climate protection and other related activities.
