Sustainable Needle Protection for Modern Biologics Applications

Schreiner MediPharm to Present Needle-Trap for Large-Volume Syringes at Pharmapack

Schreiner MediPharm, a leading developer and manufacturer of functional labels for the healthcare industry, has further developed its successful Needle-Trap needle protection system: The label with an integrated needle trap is now available also for large-volume syringes, specifically addressing the increasing requirements of modern biologics and biosimilars. At Pharmapack in Paris, from January 21 to 22, Schreiner MediPharm is going to present the innovative product to an international professional audience for the first time, showcasing the solution at Booth 4B18.

The market for biologics and biosimilars is continuously growing, confronting pharmaceutical manufacturers with new challenges in terms of primary packaging. Highly viscous active ingredients (APIs) with larger molecular structures increasingly require the utilization of large-volume syringes with fill volumes of up to 5 ml. Reliable protection against needlestick injuries must be adapted accordingly to ensure safe production processes and reliable functionality for the end user.

Considering those demands, Schreiner MediPharm has subjected its unique Needle-Trap needle protection system to consistent further development. The label with integrated needle protection is now usable also for 2.25-ml-, 3-ml-, and 5-ml syringes. Its design and function have been purposefully adapted to the specific requirements to ensure reliable protective performance also for large-volume syringes. In addition, extensive tests ensure reliable production processes at Schreiner MediPharm and smooth processing of Needle-Trap on the labeling equipment of pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The key advantages of Needle-Trap are fully retained for large-volume syringes as well and are even partly enhanced. Compared to conventional needle protection systems or autoinjectors, the compact design enables significant savings in terms of material consumption, costs, and CO₂ emissions. At the same time, pharmaceutical manufacturers benefit from efficient integration into existing processes. Processing takes place on conventional dispensing systems and secondary packaging remains unchanged. Economy and sustainability are evident along the entire supply chain, from reduced space requirements for storage, transportation, and cooling, to more environmentally friendly disposal.

For the first time, Schreiner MediPharm is going to present Needle-Trap for large-volume syringes at Pharmapack to be held in Paris from January 21 to bis 22. At Booth 4B18, trade visitors are going to receive detailed insights into the evolution of the needle protection system and the entire portfolio of multifunctional specialty labels for the pharmaceutical industry. Schreiner MediPharm is going to showcase how innovative label solutions can make an important contribution to safety, sustainability, and efficiency in the pharma supply chain.
