The increasing electrification of onboard vehicle systems is one of the major trends of the 21st century, entailing the installation of more and more electronics, electronic control units, sensors and antennas in a vehicle. Therefore, the automotive industry increasingly relies on RFID marking solutions in logistics and manufacturing operations. They are used, for instance, on returnable transport items (RTI) for end-to-end data acquisition of electronic assembly components across the entire supply chain. With ((rfid))-DistaFerr ESD, Schreiner ProTech offers a label for container marking specifically designed for ESD containers of all commonly used versions and antistatic levels.
More and more companies in the automotive industry are investigating the utilization of RFID in logistics. The future belongs to containers equipped with RFID labels enabling complete bulk reading, ensuring end-to-end batch tracing on container level, and optimizing empties management by providing inventory information in real time. Specialty containers made of ESD materials are used for this purpose because electrical charging poses a major risk when transporting electronic components. Even minimal friction or induction may destroy a printed circuit board. ESD containers dissipate charges and thus protect the electronic components inside them. The disadvantage: conventional RFID labels do not deliver optimal performance on ESD materials and their range is severely limited.
The solution: Due to the use of special materials, the ((rfid))-DistaFerr ESD Label delivers optimal performance even on ESD materials and resists aggressive substances, weather and washing. The label is suitable for thermal printing and programming directly at the customer’s site.
Optimal Read Range on ESD Materials
ESD containers driven through a gate on a forklift truck must be bulk-readable. The read ranges of standard RFID labels are not suitable for this purpose. In the LongRange version, the ((rfid))-DistaFerr ESD Label delivers particularly high read range of up to six meters.
RFID Labels for Container Management
In addition to the ((rfid))-DistaFerr ESD Label, Schreiner ProTech offers a range of other RFID labels for container management such as
• ((rfid))-DistaFerr SL2 (UHF) for use on metal containers
• ((rfid))-DistaFerr Global for worldwide use on metal
• ((rfid))-PolyTrack family: various labels for application to plastic substrates
