Many people are familiar with pressure compensation seals from data sheets or finished applications. But the technology behind them was now presented directly on-site to the participants of the second VentingXperience hosted by Schreiner ProTech. The event held at Schreiner Group’s headquarters offered ample technology at the fingertips of the audience, unusually open insights, and time for exchange.
What’s decisive factor in processing and development when it comes to quality and reliability? Why is the issue of venting a critical factor in a growing number of applications? And why does it pay to consider this at an early stage of development? Developers, design engineers, and decision makers from the fields of automotive, general industry, and car body care discussed these questions not only theoretically but were able to experience the related materials and technologies at close range. Whether sonotrodes for ultrasonic welding, sintered membrane material, or pressure compensation seals on rolls: attendees of the event literally had the components at their fingertips.
Behind the Scenes Instead of Just on Slides
What distinguishes this format from classic professional events: Schreiner ProTech opened its development and production facilities for the participants. In Research and Development, they had the opportunity to literally look the employees over the shoulders, discuss questions directly with experts, and familiarize themselves with details from everyday factory operations.
One of the participants summarized the experience like this: “Receiving insights like these into development and production by a company is not to be taken for granted – that contributed to a really good overall picture,” while another one added, “You get a clearly better appreciation of the product and of the company as well.”
In addition, attendees were obviously impressed by the wide technical range. The variety of membrane types and product designs is large—a result of consistent customized development. That the department today accounts for the largest development team within Schreiner Group underlines the growing importance of this subject.
“Many people realize only in direct exchange how much venting now influences the reliability and service life of applications,” explained Adrian Marggraf, Product Manager, Pressure Compensation Seals at Schreiner ProTech. “That’s exactly why we want to make development processes transparent and talk about requirements and solutions with our customers early on.”
Electrification Drives Demand
There is a reason for the growing interest. With increasing electrification and miniaturization, the requirements for reliable venting concepts increase – as well as the pressure to integrate them into the development process early. Following the successful premiere last year, the second edition was held as early as a little more than
half a year later—with equally positive response. Thus, the VentingXperience is increasingly establishing itself as a platform for direct dialog between users and specialists.
