Kratos Industries in Colorado manufactures large control cabinets and has heavily expanded in the last five years. Along with the growth of Kratos’ business the requirements for precision marking increased—an issue posing a major challenge to the company. In close collaboration with Schreiner ProTech, a reliable solution was developed: a paint-mask label ensuring clear identification and smooth processes.
Kratos was using simple cardboard nameplates at first, but they were error-prone. Initial tests with labels failed as well because the paint-mask labels were hard to remove after the paint shop while the manufacturing process required a solution combining strength with flexibility.
Optimization by Timing and Teamwork
Supported by Schreiner ProTech in Blauvelt, the Manufacturing Engineering Team at Kratos developed a method of peeling off the paint-mask labels immediately after the paint shop while the components are still warm. That detail proved to be decisive. The labels can be removed without leaving any residue, resulting in impeccable identification enhancing both inventory transparency and component allocation. “For us, this solution and the collaboration with Schreiner ProTech is an important element in securing our growth on an organizational level as well,” emphasized Robert Esquibel from Kratos Industries. Doug Stubbs, Sales Account Manager at Schreiner ProTech, added, “In the end, it was truly a question of timing–in terms of removing the label and in terms of project work.”
Pragmatic and Reliable Processing
The new marking solution enabled Kratos to reliably support its dynamic expansion. Central component identification and clear allocation are key factors for large-scale projects going forward—and the collaboration with Schreiner ProTech provides the basis for them.
