CombOLED Research Project
Technologies for Tomorrow
For the long term, organic light diodes (OLEDs) are seen as ideal alternatives to present-day technologies in the area of displays and illumination. Schreiner VarioLight participates in the development of innovative OLED production, thus extending its expertise in the areas of lighting technologies and printed electronics.
Flat OLEDs offer optimum prerequisites particularly for energy-efficient lighting of large areas. This prompted the European Union to support the advancement of this technology by funding the CombOLED research project. Under the project, Schreiner VarioLight in conjunction with other European companies and institutions (Siemens AG, OSRAM OS, Leti, Saint-Gobain, PPML, and Universidad de Valencia), develops partially printed OLEDs. The objective: to develop low-cost, large-area, transparent lighting applications—ranging from signal lights to advertising displays—to market level. Further information is available at www.comboled-project.eu.
The authors thank the European Com-mission for funding this work under
contract FP7 ICT-215934 (Comb-OLED).
