Protection for Sensitive Assembly Components
Components for the automotive and electronics industries, mechanical engineering and other sectors often travel long distances before reaching final assembly lines. In the past, plastic and rubber plugs or closure caps were typically used to protect component openings from contamination during shipping and storage. Special protection films from Schreiner ProTech now provide a clearly more efficient solution.

Special protection films for component openings are an example of such innovative solutions. The films enable fully automatic in-process application and can subsequently be detached again without leaving any adhesive residue on the component. The film stock as well as the adhesive is selected to best suit the customer’s specific requirements and ambient application conditions.
The protection films are designed to enable the closing of several component openings at the same time. If required by the assembly process, the film can feature a construction that allows discrete sections to be peeled off separately. In addition, the material can be custom-printed with process control data as well as warning and processing instructions. This eliminates the need for applying additional marking labels to components and thus represents a significant efficiency and value-added benefit not provided by conventional closure plugs. In addition, protection films significantly reduce storage space requirements and waste.
The cover labels can even be applied across component edges, thus reliably protecting openings as well as surface areas from damage and dirt as well as other types of contamination.
