Maximum Protection for Sensitive Components
Label Material Provides Protection from Electrostatic Discharge
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a frequently encountered phenomenon. For example, when walking across a carpet or putting on clothes, static electricity may be generated through “tribocharging.” This electricity is then discharged in an electric impulse, which is often manifested by a small spark.
While people generally experience only minor discomfort when this occurs, ESD can lead to catastrophic effects in production processes. Whenever an electrically charged object comes into contact with a transistor, an integrated circuit, or a processor, the resulting discharge of electricity may destroy the component. According to expert estimates, a fourth of all component defects can be attributed to ESD issues. Component label management plays a crucial part in avoiding such problems. When conventional labels are peeled off the liner, the static electricity generated through tribocharging may be discharged when the label is subsequently applied to an electronic component, with the risk of damaging the component.
Schreiner ProTech offers special ESD labels for maximum protection of industrial components from static electricity. The labels can be safely used in ESD-sensitive areas, particularly in electronic component manufacturing. They avoid component damage and thus save costs.
