Pressure Compensation Seal (PCS) Protects Sensitive Electronics in Car Keys
Electronic keys and smart key cards have replaced conventional mechanical keys in many areas, including the automotive sector. Innovative access technologies enhance user convenience and improve security. However, the sensitive electronics confront manufacturers of electronic key housings with particular challenges.
Electronic key housings must be able to withstand an immersion depth of three meters as well as a cycle in a washing machine. To protect the electronics from the intrusion of water, the housing should be water-tight. How ever, if no pressure compensation is provided, temperature changes will result in a deformation of the housing. Schreiner ProTech addressed this challenge by developing self adhesive pressure compensation seals (PCS) as a viable solution ensuring the required compensation of pressure inside the housing. In addition, the PCS pro vides reliable protection of the electronics from moisture. Thanks to its easy integration into the production process chain, this solution is highly cost-efficient.
