Multi-functional Label Solution by Schreiner MediPharm for Safe Use of Autoinjectors

Oberschleissheim, May 12, 2011 – The new specialty labels by Schreiner MediPharm now provide higher patient safety and user comfort in self-medication. In addition to being used for marking purposes, the labels deliver important functionalities such as first-opening protection (tamper evidence), fill level inspection through a window in the label and anti-slip protection.

The multi-functional label solution by Schreiner MediPharm for auto-injectors or pens is optimally adapted to individual customer needs and offers more than a mere marking functionality. First-opening protection (tamper evidence) gives the user assurance that the autoinjector has not been used before and contains the right medication. This tamper protection is achieved by a perforation on the specialty label which is also positioned in a way that precludes undetected closure of the cap after it has been opened for the first time. In addition, the patient can check the fill level and contents of the injection aid through an integrated transparent window. For better grip and safe handling while the user performs the injection, the label is also provided with an anti-slip texture.

Thanks to the special material properties the label exactly adapts to the shape of the autoinjector and reliably adheres to the plastic material. By combining marking, safety and comfort Schreiner MediPharm has created a value-added solution which can be customized to suit various injection systems as needed.
