RFID-Label Accelerates Logistics Processes at Ford’s Cologne Plant

Precise management of the logistics process is a must for any vehicle manufacturer. For Ford’s plant in Cologne, Schreiner LogiData developed an RFID-based product that has significantly improved the manufacturer’s vehicle shipping logistics.

More than 1900 cars are produced at Ford’s plant in Cologne every day. The finished vehicles are shipped to dealerships by truck, rail or boat. To assure maximum control of the delivery process, the plant has opted for RFID technology by Schreiner LogiData. The technology accelerates the process of handling vehicle shipments and informs the drivers about the respective route. The RFID-UHF-Label project for Ford in Cologne specified a number of special requirements: the label was to be suitable for automatic dispensing, reliably adhere to the new car’s windshield, and possess a long reading range. Schreiner LogiData’s development engineers managed to meet all of these demands. Another special feature of these labels is the fact that, despite their high tack force, they can be peeled off again without leaving any residues.
