Reliable identification in metallic environments
Perfectly tested and documented with the ((rfid))-Loop label by Schreiner LogiData
Oberschleissheim, March 30, 2010 – To ensure perfect on-board functioning of complex assemblies, a renowned automotive supplier subjects them to rig tests using a large number of sensors. Each sensor test has to be manually documented. This is a time-consuming task which requires permanent concentration as any mix-up or writing error would lead to serious consequences. Schreiner LogiData now offers a solution that enables significant time and thus cost savings: the ((rfid))-Loop label.
To ensure the efficiency and reliability of in-process sensor data acquisition, the project objectives specified automatic data acquisition and transfer from the nameplates to the test report by means of RFID technology. The challenge: the metallic environment considerably interfered with data reading and the RFID labels could not be directly applied to metal.
The solution: the ((rfid))-Loop label by Schreiner LogiData uses a slot in the metallic substrate: The edge of the slot acts like a secondary antenna which allows the reading distance to be extended to 50 centimeters. This distance is sufficient to ensure fast and reliable acquisition of all rig sensor data even if the RFID label is directly applied to a metallic surface.
Thanks to its very flat design and small size, combined with a very large reading range in the metallic environment, the ((rfid))-Loop label is used specifically in areas where conventional RFID solutions reach their limits. It is suitable for direct marking of metallic containers and roll pallets, metallic tools and tool carriers, and metallic nameplates.
