From the Specialist Printing Shop to a High-Tech Group of Companies.

The family-owned company: from the founders, Margarete and Theodor Schreiner, to today’s managing director, Helmut Schreiner and his designated successor Roland Schreiner.

Germany in 1951: Theodor and Margarete Schreiner start a factory specializing in embossed seal stamps and labels.

The end of World War II was an era where many, including Theodor and Margarete Schreiner, had to start from scratch again. The family with three small children had to find ways to make a new living. After producing some sophisticated inventions, such as the first fuel gauge for motor vehicles, Theodor Schreiner—an engineer—started exploring opportunities of self-employment.

In 1951, the company, M. Schreiner, "Spezialfabrik für geprägte Siegelmarken und Etiketten" (Specialist Factory for Embossed Seal Stamps and Labels), was founded. Many good ideas helped launch the new business. For example, instead of engravings the company used etched metal stamps, which significantly reduced printing plate costs. The material was cut in-house into slim rolls for each order. Artwork, designs, reproduction work and printing plates—everything was done and made in-house, thus enabling short delivery times. The small family-owned business found its first customers and convinced them from the outset with powerful designs and the impressive effects of its embossed seal stamps, labels and tags. In the course of nearly 60 years the company and its production range have consistently evolved to new levels.

In 1974, Helmut Schreiner acquired the business from his parents, after having run the company for a number of years. The name was changed into "Schreiner Etiketten und Selbstklebetechnik" (Schreiner Labels and Self-Adhesion Technology), commensurate with the company’s high-end technical products and engineering spirit as the business kept moving forward.

Despite all the changes in the course of time, the Schreiner Group has always upheld its corporate values of Innovation, Quality, Performance and Enthusiasm, which continue to shape its corporate identity.

The transition from the second to the third generation is fully underway. Roland Schreiner is a shareholder and member of the management board. He is responsible for the company’s entire operations and all business units including the subsidiary in the United States. On September 1, 2012 Helmut Schreiner will turn over his responsibilities as CEO/Managing Director to his son.
